Star Trek Into Darkness | is freaking awesome

Quick review
I LOVE it! I'll give Star Trek Into Darkness a  9  out of 10. Awesome cast. Solid acting. Lots of kick-ass action with enough amount of emotion and heart. (CinemaScore gives the movie an " A ", IMDb gives  8.3 , Rotten Tomatoes certifies it  fresh  scoring 86% from critics, 89% from audience)

Smooth special effects, too. The 3D makes the warps big fun. I have great time watching it. 

And the villain -- oh, the villain. Benedict Cumberbatch! Simply amazing. Just... amazing. Awesome. Brilliant. Superb. What else...

In short? Definitely worth to watch on big screen!

Plot & Cast 
For the plot, I'll only say this: basically the movie's about the crew trying to catch the terrorist "John Harrison". Whose voice is badass. And since I'm mentioning him, I'll start the cast countdown with the one I love the most:

"JOHN HARRISON", Commander - That dude in the poster. The villain. Brilliantly, amazingly, awesomely portrayed by Benedict Cumberbatch. Cold, calculating, witty, brutally ruthless and efficient, Cumberbatch's John Harrison WILL make you pay attention to him every time he's on screen. Cos he's such a badass. And there's even a point in the movie where I 'get' where he's coming from and kinda rooting for him.

Cumberbatch's definitely one of the major strength of Star Trek Into Darkness (although the rest of the cast are also doing a great job, mind you).

And when he got John Harrison to speak! Oh my gaawd.. Dat VOICE! So out of this world. Heck, a day after I got out of the movie the first time, I felt like I was still high and weak in the knees just from hearing his voice!

I especially love when he half-whispered/spat the word "Captain," to Kirk when he first met Kirk and co, with loathe dripping from his tone. W.O.W. I got goosebumps remembering it. And that cold, unblinking, steely gaze doesn't hurt, either. ;)

Btw. Turns out that there's a scene where John Harrison is showering that wasn't included in the movie. I read it on hollywoodreporter. But what do you know: Abrams gives us this EXCLUSIVE peek at it on Conan show:

About Benedict, the British actor also did a genius job in Sherlock (BBC), the multiple award winner tv mini-series of a modern day Sherlock Holmes. 9.2 on IMDb! Can't wait for the next season (season 3).

He mostly do documentary I think, mostly on BBC. He played Vincent van Gogh, Stephen Hawking (where he got an award in it. oh, he was amazing!), did an amazing short film with Tom Hardy in "Stuart: A Life Backwards", he's on star-studded movie "Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy", he's playing legendary dragon Smaug in "The Hobbit", ... Man, I can go on and on about him. Hmm, I think I'll get him his own corner in another entry.

Point is: he is hot. Some people say he looks 'weird'. But for me, the fact that he's different is what makes him all the more scorching hot. And he's awesome. And can act. And he's such a shy (and sometimes cutely awkward) and down to earth gentleman who smiles a lot too, in real life. Ah, Benedict. I think have a crush on you. Blush blush.

JAMES T. KIRK, Commander/Captain - Or just "Jim", the captain of the ship. The gut-feeling-factor of the movie. Portrayed by Chris Pine.

I like that Pine can bring out the emotion and fragility to the brash and sometimes cocky (?) Kirk. Makes the character likable, even if I'm sometimes pissed at him for being so reckless at times. The dude is a preetty good actor, I must say.

So, what's with the Hobbit & Silent Hill Revelation?

Dengan berbekal dengkul - Senin kemarin akhirnya saya berangkat juga nonton The Hobbit ma Silent Hill Revelation di Yogyakarta. Perjalanan ramai tapi lancar [it's holiday season!], antrian bioskopnya puanjoang [15 menit setelah pintu dibuka, antrian uda mengular sampe ke tempat parkir. it was awesome.], tapi untungnya saya masi kebagian ciketch [makasi novel, uda menemani saya 2 jam menunggu filmnya diputar].

All in all: sukses de main ke Jogja-nya. My verdict? The Hobbit: thumbs up. Silent Hill Revelation: wellll... .

THE HOBBIT - Is lots of fun! This first part of the trilogy has a really cheerful note in it, and since I didn't read the books, I must say I'm quite surprised at how cheerful it is. Tapi memang ini adaptasiyong buku cerita anak-anak sih, ya, jadi wajar kalo ceria gitu dibandingin LotR.

Oh, Yeah - Ada dua film yang pengen saya tonton minggu ini. Yang satu saya suka cast-nya, yang satu saya suka game-nya. Uda ditunggu-tunggu dari tahun kemaren, je. Nonton, nontoon~ Geh, tapi akun buat booking tiket punya saya isinya tinggal 10 rebong doang. Musti ngantri tiket dah huhu. Oh, well. Ngemeng-ngemeng. Owoah, blog pilemku. Lama nian dirimu tak kusentyuh. Oho. Hoho.

THE HOBBIT - Ni pilem, suka banget deh castingnya. Yang jadi the hobbit, the dragon, the dwarves, the elves, suka semua! Cuman sayang, kayaknya ada masalah ma animal treatment pas produksi film ini. Moga ga parah deh kasusnya. Moga hewannya uda baik-baik saja. Anyways, monggo trailernya bune, pakne.

Ni pilem prequelnya The Lord Of The Rings. Nyeritain masa muda Bilbo Baggins, aki-aki yang ngasi cincin ke Frodo itu. Tentang pertemuannya dengan Gollum. Sama kayak LotR, The Hobbit juga jadi trilogi. Yah, musti nunggu setahun lagi deh ngeliat lanjutan yang ini hiks. Ga sabaarrr argh.

Oya. Shootingnya di New Zealand, kampung halamannya Peter Jackson, the director. Beautiful scenery. Ga heran jadi negara yang penduduknya termasuk yang paling bahagia di bumi. Ah, ngiri. Ah, ya udah, saya bahagia di sini saja deh. [sambil ngambek]

Silent Hill Revelation | this week's ration #2

Yeah, I know - This movie only got 6% on rottentomatoes [dun dunn]. Which kinda makes me go, "Ack." But still! I'm curious. Besides, I've been waiting for this since I saw the first movie and got hooked. Jadi, moga ga separah yang dibilang. Hiks.

THE FIRST MOVIE - Impressed me so much. I l.o.v.e. how the first Silent Hill movie was able to give me the same kind of feeling like what I got when playing the game. Kesan terkucil, sendiri, di tengah kota hantu yang sepi. Keren deh. Cos susah tuh, bisa ngasi perasaan yang sama ketika nonton film-nya  dengan ketika kita main game-nya. I respect them for that.

#1 - i love it

Naa, dengar-dengar pilem nyang ke-dua ini plotnya lemah banget. Ada juga yang bilang plotnya susah dipahami.

#2 - hopefully as freaky as the 1st

Saya sendiri saat ini belum nonton. Cuman, kalo beneran susah dipahami, wah asik banget tuh. Ane pan suka plot nyang ngebikin pusing. Plus, Silent Hill yang dulu plot-nya juga dibilang ga asik, and yet I love it. So, we'll see. This jury's still out. Aduh, moga sih bagus. Sayang banget kalo jelek. Boohoo.

Rise of the Guardians | 3D animation, action, adventure movie. Want.

Hugh Jackman, Chris Pine, Jude Law - Eye candiies~ Well, ga literally sih, cos mereka cuman 'keliatan' suara doang iks. Pilemnya 3D animation, dan dari trailernya kayakna asik ni pilemnyak. Adventure, magic, action, and unorthodox portraying of the fairy tales characters. Ni yang di poster lengannya Santa, btw. Tatonya keren bang.











Inti ceritanya, Bogeyman membelot n pengen ngebuat dreams anak-anak isinya nightmare doang. Dan tokoh-tokoh utama bergabung untuk mencegahnya. You know, the usual.

Btw. Ternyata setelah browsing, baru tau kalo tokoh utamanya si Jack Frost (Chris Pine, Star Trek guy). Belum keliatan di teasernya di atas ya. Jadi penasaran, kayak apa ni si abang bentuknya, cos karakter lainnya agak beda ma biasanya digambarkan di dongeng-dongeng.

Battleship | fun, action, army, movie

Fun movie! - Put down the lust for intricate and slow plot for awhile. It's time for high-tech weapon show-off!

"Boom," is what Rihanna said. 

Ya namanya juga pilem action, jadi ni film fokusnya ke action! n explosions! n cool visual effects! -- which SUCKS for me cos di bioskopnya cuma ada versi 2D doang. Argh Empire, Empire... Kejamnya dirimu hiks. Me wanna watch the 3D versioon :(( booo booo. Gara-gara Titanic 3D tuh kayakna -__-

Anyways. Intinya sih posisi kita diketahui planet alien yang terus kirim tentara untuk ngeliat planet ini. Seperti yang dikatakan masnya di awal movie:

Kalo sampe ada kehidupan cerdas di luar sana, it'd be like Columbus and the Indians; except that we're the Indians. 

Nah, ternyata memang persis seperti itu. Tapi menurutku, benernya aliennya juga ga jahat-jahat amat sih. Maksudnya, reaksi mereka ya mirip reaksi kita kalo misalnya kita ke planet yang benar-benar asing kok, so it's pretty easy to be at their shoes. 

Mereka juga sebenarnya ga asal ngehancurin bumi, tapi milih cuma target yang threatening buat mereka yang dihajar. So, it counts as self-defend. I think.

Bourne Legacy | a spin-off?

JEREMY RENNER ris laris nis manis uy - Lanjutan franchise agen Bourne yang ini, The Bourne Legacy, ternyata ga dibintangi ma mas Matt Damon. Dengar-dengar si masnya ga mau ikut di pilem ini lagi karena produsernya ganti. Dia lebi cocok ma produser lama, jadi begitu produsernya ganti dia memutusKEN UNTUK!! ga ikutan.

Nah, biar ga menutup kemungkinan kembalinya si Matt (bukan mas Amat yang jual kupat tahu *aack garings mania*), si produser bikin naskahnya dibikin beda ma novel aslinya. Jadi semacam spin-off ya (tapi kok judulnya sama yak.. oh, well.). 


Ceritanya tentang seorang agen lain yang sepabrikan ma mas Bourne. Yang memerankan agen lain ini adalah *drumroll* Jeremy Renner *enter squealling fan girl here*.

Inti cerita movienya sih --and I quote-- :

There was never just one.

In case masi asing ma nama Jeremy Renner: dia yang paling akhir ikut di Mission Impossible 4: Ghost Protocol, jadi anggota tim Tom Cruise. Dia juga sempat cameo dikit di pilem Thor, persiapan kali yak, cos dia bakal memerankan Hawkeye (superhero yang senjatanya panah--love it) di The Avengers yang isinya bintang-bintang gede itu tyuh (semoga ga gagal, cos like they say: too many cooks in the kitchen spoil the soup).

Yang pasti, mengecewakan fans Bourne series or not, diriku kayakna akan nonton. The action seems pretty cool. AND I kinda have the hots for Mr. Renner there :"> . So.

The Woman In Black | uwah aku 'diganggu' something pas nonton

Pengakuan lagi - Gotta give it to this movie. Jantungan baaang. Gara-gara muka si ibu-ibu tuh, kebayang-bayang mpe sehari setelah nonton. Dang.. Definitely worth it, though.

Pas nonton diriku 'diganggu' pulak. Urk... *sakes fist to the air* Damn you mom-mom in black!! (No, she's not in the thumbnail above)

Buat yang suka film horor yang model Ju-On, maksudnya yang setannya ga sering-sering amat keluar (eh, Ju-On keluar mulu ding yak) dan lebih fokus ke deg-degan ndiri gara-gara mengantisipasi kemunculan si syaitonirojim, kayakna perlu nonton film ini deh. Lumayan bikin jantungan sepanjang film.

PLUS, diriku 'diganggu' pas nonton film ini. Maksutnyah, aku dapat pengalaman horor di tengah film, berlanjut sampe malamnya masih keganggu dan ga bisa tidur hiks. Begini ceritanya... *pandangan sendu menerawang*

Waktu itu film sudah mulai sekitar 1/3. Semua kan konsentrasi ke film, pada siap-siap kalo ibu baju itemnya muncul ga diundang di tengah adegan.

Nah, tahu-tahu aku merasakan ada sesuatu yang menyentuh rambut. Gak wajar karena di sekelilingku harusnya ga ada penonton, kursi sekitar tempat dudukku kosong semua. Ada juga agak jauhan, sekitar 4-6 seats dari tempatku duduk.

Langsung deh, tengkuk jadi tegang, sambil mengira-ira 'benda' yang barusan menyentuh kepala.

Belum selesai tegangnya, eh kejadian lagi: kali ini lama, dan terasa banget kalo yang menyentuh kepalaku itu sebuah tangan. Jari-jarinya bisa terasa di kulit kepalaku, dingin kayak es.

Langsung otomatis diriku menengok ke belakang. "Setidaknya kalo mau ngeganggu, gue pengen liat tu muka lu yang jijay, biar kalo gue kenapa-kenapa, gue bisa balas dendam ke elu!" gitu pikirku (desperate false bravado bener dah).

Beneran deh. Begitu menengok ke belakang, keliatan...

... di belakang kursiku, ada...

... ibu-ibu---hiiiiy---

... yang kebelet pipis, mau keluar dari teater, pegangan sandaran kursiku tapi kena kepala. Graah. Dodol banget tuh si mom-mom. Kedinginan kena AC teaternya ternyata. Hee..

Trus, sepulang dari nonton, malamnya aku ga bisa tidur. Gara-gara UDARANYA PANAS. Graaaargh. Ga enak banget.

Horor banget yak kekeke.

Buuut seriously though - Great movie. Ya itu tadi, setannya ga banyak keliatan, dan begitu keliatan, maaak jijay banget... Jadi malah lebi serem karena penonton jadi sibuk berimajinasi ndiri.

Trus, ending ceritanya: I got a mixed feeling about it. Sebel sebel gimanaa gitu. Tapi memang mungkin lebih ngena kalo endingnya gitu ya. I guess I'll just suck it up.

Setting rumah horrornya juga keren: di tengah pantai, dan kalo laut pasang berkilometer jalan masuk menuju rumah itu terendam air, sehingga rumahnya jadi terisolasi dari rumah sekitar. Keren.

Oh, and I like the doggiees!! And the horse. (ga penting banget baangg).

Chronicle | amazing, amazing, love it much

I gotta admit - This movie surprised me. Dari belum pernah dengar dan ga begitu minat nonton, sekarang film ini jadi salah satu film favoritku (next to District 9, Puss In Boots, Tintin, etc dll dsb).

Chronicle - the battle of sanity.

Intinya sih bercerita tentang 3 pemuda yang tiba-tiba mendapatkan kekuatan super, bagaimana orang 'normal' biasanya akan bereaksi. Yang membuat berbeda dari film superhero lainnya adalah, reaksi tokoh-tokoh dalam Chronicle lebih terasa nyata. Mereka bertingkah kayak remaja yang umum.

Mereka ga berusaha menyelamatkan dunia. Ga ada super villain. Yang mereka hadapi cuma perang dengan diri mereka sendiri, apakah kekuatan yang begitu besar itu akan membuat mereka menjadi bijak, atau mendorong mereka untuk selalu membenarkan diri sendiri, cos after all, mereka masi remaja.

Yang pasti, aku suka the sense of reality-nya. Mungkin karena pengambilan gambarnya dari 1st person point of view kali yak (dari rekaman-rekaman kamera), jadi rasanya lebih personal dan terasa lebih nyata (at least for me sih). Diriku memang suka model suasana yang seperti itu, cos itu juga yang ingin kujadikan tema graphic novel (yang masiiih juga belum sempat bikin uhuwewe).

Aku juga suka banget pendalaman karakter tokohnya, terutama si Edward yang paling banyak pergolakan mental. Endingnya juga 'realistis'. 

Benernya pengen nonton lagi, cos baru nonton di bioskop sekali hiks (yea for a good movie I can watch over n over again) tapi ga sempat-sempat, sampai akhirnya dirinya menghilang dari jadwal tayangs di tengah kegelapan malam (whaat).

Nasib dah.. Beli DVDnya aja kali yak.

Kalo lagi ada diskon kekeke~ (ra modal max).

Second time, better (?) | Madagascar 3: Europe's Most Wanted

First thought of the day - A bit of a progress today: changing the basic layout n colors of this blog. I am in the mood of s-i-m-p-l-i-c-i-t-y lately, so. No blink-blink n colorful colored color, I guess. Also, changing the shockwave size embedded here. Still happy about it. So, yeargh ima post videos ALOT.

Second thought - My older brother bought durian today (spiky tropical fruit with strong odor/smell/taste/whatever that's a super-drooler for most people, especially in this country). _Two_ durians, to be exact. For some people, it would be like heaven on earth: the smell, so distinct and appetizing; the soft and fluffy texture of the fruit, the warm feeling (??) after eating it...

Me, no like it. So it's a bit of a torture to get around the house. I mean, the _smell_ man! Whoooh. Spanky.

Third - Movie trailer of the upcoming Madascar 3: Europe's Most Wanted. And thus from this trailer I shall quote:

"Six years ago they disappeared without a trace. Next summer, they finally resurface. - Summer 2012 -"

To sum it up: the guys are looking for the penguins (gotta love 'em), got chased around in Europe by animal control people with French accent, end up hiding in a circus with macho tiger, aaand wejustgottaseeitourselves.

I really love the spin-off: Penguins of Madagascar.

Fourth - I should start getting my priorities set up n GET. SOME. WORK. DONE. Argh haven't even started doing the first page.. Although actually getting to know le blog is also part of the job too, so playing around with the setting should be okay. At least now I know how to layout the page... *mumble* *mumble*.

Fallin in love with Puss in Boots! Or, not.

Naw, I _do_ love the movie. But for now, I'm just using it to test this, this, b-b-blogging, thing. I'm new to this whole thingy. This new job I took requires me to understand blogging n webbing a bit, so. Here goes testing one two three. 

Test, test, test. Hmmmm.. [whacked words for a whacked start] How the hell can I change the size of this thumbnail.. *squint at the letters saying h-t-m-l* Wazzat..  Ah, html mode, and Google API. Lots of things need to be learnt, huh. Cool. Hey! Squirrel.

Trying to get a kind of caption on the thumbnail. So far, done so manually.
There's gotta be some other way..Oh. About the vid: what's up with the thumb?? The jpg's blurry.. The video itself is a hi-def, though.

The movie's pretty darn addictive, though:
- great art
- great texture
- great rendering
- best 3D experience (so far, aside from Kungfu Panda 2).
I was ready to watch it like, three more times already. Too bad the theater in my area decided to take it down before I even get to watch twice. Gimme back my youth darnit! 

Oh, well. Guess I gotta buy the DVD instead. Wont beat watching it in theater, though *sniffles*.
